Fork animation writeup

Sorry again Ms. McFadyen, it finally went through!

(1) Discuss the quality of your movement
(2) Describe the foreground, middle and background
(3) Describe how you created unity using mixed media
(4) Describe how sound effected the animation
(5) If you could change one thing what would it be how would you change it?

I tried to create emotion through the expression that the forks had, the lighting and how their props looked. For example the grumpy irritable fork on the left has grey angry eyebrows and is rocking faster then the other. The lighting was darker on the left side and his rocking chair was dirty and had a lot of wood knots in it to portray the specified emotion. The fork on the right has a happier feeling to it; it is rocking slower, the music is happier to exaggerate it, the lighting is stronger on the right side and its eyes are a brighter colour then the “Grump”. I tried to make the grumpy fork’s movements jitterier then the jolly fork, I did this by using their rocking chairs to portray the specific emotion: the grumpy fork rocks a lot faster then the jolly fork.  I think my movement in the animation was smoother then I imagined it, it looks a lot better. I tried to make the sound very subtle; I used bouncy, upbeat music that exaggerated the happy fork. If I could change anything I would of changed the lighting to make it brighter, I found it was a little dark, I would also make sure the background was more secure.

PSA reports

-Self-evaluation-

By: Megan

For our PSA we chose Homophobia, we think homophobia is a problem that a lot of people turn a blind eye to.  So we want to make people aware through our PSA.
We assigned each other jobs so the workload would be easier on all of us.
Robyn got storyboarding, a small acting part and helped me with the script. Henry was in charge of finding information for the PSA and helping Robyn with the storyboard. I was given planning, filming, editing and soundtrack. But it didn’t work out that way, with Henry being away for wrestling and the slight mix-up in the groups, Robyn and I had to help with Henry's part a bit.  It is hard to get everyone to do their fair share, but it is hard working in a group of three when all of us have very different schedules. Ms. Silverman, I talked to you and I hope you understand. I think was a fun project, but maybe next time groups of two might work better.

-Group Report-
By: Megan, Robyn and Henry

Our PSA is a homophobia awareness video. In our video there is a teenage boy and it shows what he goes through on a daily basis, just because he is homosexual.
We as a group worked well together, we listened to each other’s ideas and tried to incorporate them all into the video. In the middle of editing we were finding it hard to fit it into the 30 sec time limit. We agreed instead of typing up the information and using up more of our already scarce time, why not do a voice over, which may be more time and in general effective. We hope people viewing our PSA will understand the meaning of it.

Optical devices

Zoetrope
The Zoetrope is one of many Optical devices, it was famous in the 1800's. The Zoetrope uses a piece of film and wheel to animate it. It was made   by William Horner in 1834. The Zoetrope was also a popular toy as well the introduction to animation. The piece of film has "steps" of an object and while the zoetrope is spinning, the inside of the zoetrope would have an animation on the ring. Optical toys were the beginning of animation, if optical toys were not invented there would not be any 3-D movies out today.
